East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD), one of nation’s largest independent water and wastewater utility, invites qualified professionals to apply for the position of Associate Civil Engineer in the Office of Water Recycling which is in the Water Supply Improvements Division of the Water and Natural Resources Department. Reporting to a Senior Engineer, the Associate Civil Engineer is the registered professional engineer level position on the EBMUD civil engineering career ladder.

The Water Recycling Section handles significant work to support capital projects and ongoing operations including: planning and environmental analysis of recycled water facilities (treatment, pump station, storage, pipeline distribution, and fill stations); program management during design and construction of recycled water facilities; recycled water user site retrofits; recycled water expansion and water quality studies; negotiation of recycled water agreements; application of state and federal grants and loans; recycled water customer training, permitting, and support; and project management.
EBMUD is seeking a motivated professional with experience in water and wastewater-related fields, preferably in recycled water. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in project planning and management; oral and written communication skills; experience with planning and siting of project facilities, environmental documents, and reports; engineering analyses of new and existing projects; and understanding of recycled water regulations, treatment, and water quality.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in an ABET-accredited civil (or closely related) engineering curriculum OR a California EIT Certificate; four years of professional civil and/or closely related engineering experience (subsequent to obtaining the degree), which is equivalent to two years of experience at EBMUD’s Assistant Engineer level; and California registration as a Professional Civil Engineer.
