The IRB Administrator works within the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) in the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships, and serves as a key contact and resource for institutional review and approval of all research involving human subjects at Purdue University. Works closely with the members of Purdue’s Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), the IRB Executive Committee, and University departments to facilitate the research review and approval process in accordance with relevant federal guidelines. Responsible for preparing and/or updating standard operating procedures; drafting templates for use by staff and investigators; preparing agendas and materials for IRB Board and staff meetings; and implementing systems for the efficient and timely management of research protocols. Provides supervision for IRB analysts and support staff. Assist the HRPP leadership in developing and delivering educational programs to the campus research community, assuring compliance with federal regulations, and achieving and subsequently maintaining accreditation by AAHRPP. Consistent with the spirit behind impending changes to the federal Common Rule, Purdue is poised to streamline and improve its review processes, to ensure both research participant safety and a reduction of administrative burden on our researchers.
