The Faculty of Agriculture, Dalhousie University is a small research-intensive campus located in Truro, NS. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of Dr. Qamar Zaman, the Postdoctoral Fellow will develop and evaluate precision agriculture systems (hardware and software) to improve crop yield and technology transfer activities. They will participate in a combination of field and laboratory research and will be required to complete extensive travel throughout the Atlantic region. Periodic exposure to allergy constituents including dust and insects (e.g. honeybees) are a component of this position.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in mechatronics engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering. Proven ability in written and verbal communication skills is necessary. The successful candidate will be expected to be innovative, creative and solutions-oriented. Knowledge/special skills required for the position include (i) training in software development (computer programming; C++, C sharp, Visual basic, Pascal, Matlab); (ii) analysis of multi-spectral and hyper-spectral images; (iii) applications of sensors and control systems and GPS (iv) electronics and instrumentation; and v) excellent organizational, supervisory and communication skills
