POSITION SUMMARY/CLASS DESCRIPTION Benefits
Advance professional engineering work at the full performance level involving overseeing and directing activities of County or consultant engineers, technicians, inspectors, contractors or other professionals in the course of installing and maintaining the County's Traffic Signal Program.CLASS DESCRIPTIONPerforms advanced professional level engineering and/or architectural work, which may include supervisory responsibility, with considerable independence but under general supervision from an administrative or technical superior. Work includes reviewing complex engineering and/or architectural plans, resolving difficult design analysis, acting as project manager for large scale projects, and preparing planning and engineering documents. Work at this level is distinguished by unique engineering analysis and expertise in areas such as mechanical, electrical or structural engineering; in depth architectural experience in the development, design and construction of institutional building types such as libraries, community centers, police and fire stations, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following, other duties may be assigned.
This job has the supervisory responsibility of the traffic signal maintenance crew, currently numbering three. Also, may be called up to act on behalf of the Division Chief in his or her absence.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and four years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Master's degree or equivalent; or four to ten years of related experience and/or training; or similar combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS, MATHEMATICAL SKILLS AND REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:
Registered Professional Engineer in the State of MarylandValid Class C Maryland Driver's License, or equivalent issued by state of residency.
