San Juan Construction, Inc. is seeking a certified Concrete Laboratory Manager for our projects on the Kwajalein Atoll, RMI.
Qualified candidates will be experienced in performing various laboratory and field tests including sand-cone density testing, freshly mixed concrete sampling and testing, compressive strength testing of cured concrete cylinders and laboratory testing of fine and coarse aggregates. Candidates will be experienced in soils compaction testing, including the establishment of a moisture-density curve, concrete testing including field and laboratory testing, maintaining test result charts, assisting in a day to day operations of the concrete batch plant and materials testing laboratory and reporting test results to CQC System Manager via appropriate test report forms.
The Concrete Lab Manager is responsible for scheduling, coordinating and staffing to cover concrete testing to ensure concrete meets quality standards. Will also be responsible for tracking, inventory, and distribution of testing equipment. All work performed in a safe and professional manner.
Educational and experience preferences: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience. Extensive experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Three years’ experience in duties described above and/or equivalent combination of experience and technical training or apprenticeship program. Supervisory experience and certified ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician – Level 2 are preferred.
Minimum ACI Certifications:
Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician – Level 1
Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade 1
Concrete Strength Testing Technician
Aggregate Testing Technician - Level 1
Masonry Laboratory Testing Technician (preferred)
Strong math skills, detailed oriented and the ability to record and communicate test results accurately.
The Concrete Laboratory Manager should be able to: compare and see differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects; picture objects from drawing or diagrams; rate information using standards that can be measured or checked; calculate amounts of concrete required for each job; and work within precise limits or standards of accuracy. Physically, workers must be able to; climb and maintain body balance; use hands and arms fully; stand, kneel, bend, crawl, or crouch for long periods; and see well (either naturally or with correction).
Willingness to work on a remote tropical island for a minimum of one year. Company paid housing, meals and transportation. Compensation dependent on experience and qualifications. Must have a US Passport, or the ability to obtain one.
