Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking two professional and experienced Geotechnical Engineers. The Headquarters Geotechnical office is tasked with providing geotechnical recommendations Statewide in support of WSDOT’s capital construction program, preservation, and maintenance activities.
This position is responsible for ensuring the geotechnical aspects of the projects are consistent with standards of practice, national codes, and departmental policies. The work includes the analysis of complex site conditions requiring specialized training in geotechnical design, as well as the independent application of broadly based experience, judgment, and non-standard design methodologies to effectively complete designs.
*Note: This position includes an approved in-training plan, therefore it may be filled at the Transportation Engineer 2, 3, or 4 level. The salary levels for each are:
Transportation Engineer 2: $ 55,476 – $ 72,744 annually
Transportation Engineer 3: $ 61,212 – $ 80,304 annually
Transportation Engineer 4: $ 67,584 – $ 88,656 annually
The Washington State Department of Transportation is the steward of a multimodal transportation system and responsible for ensuring that people and goods move safely and efficiently. In addition to building, maintaining, and operating the state highway system, WSDOT is responsible for the state ferry system, and works in partnership with others to maintain and improve local roads, railroads and airports, as well as to support alternatives to driving, such as public transportation, bicycles and pedestrian programs.
