Overview / Responsibilities Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Birmingham Alabama. Candidate will be exposed to a range of projects related to energy, transportation, industrial/commercial, and government sectors. The successful candidate should be flexible in assignments, willing to travel, and eager to learn.Key Responsibilities•Perform field explorations and data collection•Construction monitoring/inspection of shallow and deep foundations•Under the guidance of an engineer, perform engineering calculations/analyses for shallow and deep foundations, settlement, soil and rock slope stability, retaining walls, ground improvement, etc.•Learn to use relevant software•Prepare field reports, internal correspondence, and sections of formal reports•Follows company and client safety standards
Skills / Qualifications •Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET Accredited College / University; Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering preferred•E.I.T. license or ability to attain within 6 months•Must have strong oral / written communication skills and ability to work well in teams•Proficient with Microsoft Office (required) and AutoCAD (preferred)•Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required•Flexibility to travel for short durations (typically two weeks or less)•Valid Driver's License•Able to lift up to 50 pounds and traverse over rugged terrain•Pass drug test and background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policyDiversity Statement We are an equal opportunity employer that recognises the value of a diverse workforce.
