Join a Team that Lives to Improve Lives
People come to Genentech from across disciplines and across the world to solve our most challenging medical conditions. You’ll find inspiration in our passion for biotechnology, our purpose to positively impact the lives of millions of patients and our dedication to our people. Joining Genentech means being part of a tradition of inquiry that will change the world. It means embracing our failures as much as our successes. It requires a willingness to look beyond the edge of what's possible. And a focus on doing the day-to-day work that makes great science happen.
The following opportunity exists in our South San Francisco, CA headquarters:
Genentech Postdoctoral Fellow, Biomedical Imaging
We are seeking a talented and motivated individual for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the PET imaging laboratory within the Department of Biomedical Imaging, part of our Reseach and Development organization. The department is well-equipped for PET radiochemistry, quantitative preclinical imaging, and bench work aimed at validating the imaging reagents and methods. The successful candidate is expected to establish and apply PET imaging reagents and methods to help us measure the presence of key cell populations and markers of their activity in preclinical models spanning neurodegeneration, cancer, and their response to novel therapeutics. This will involve the use of PET and optical reporter gene technologies, as well as targeted ligands based on small molecules, peptides, or antibodies as appropriate.

Who You Are
The successful candidate will likely have recently received their Ph.D. in a molecular imaging or biomedical engineering program, or possibly be wrapping up a successful first post-doctoral position. They will have several hard skills applicable to the project, along with a can-do attitude and willingness to learn that enables these experiments. PET imaging experience may be helpful but is not required; a willingess to work collaboratively with other researchers and with preclincial models of human disease is essential. They will have demonstrated a mastery of (and a passion for) performing rigorous biological experiments through high quality publications or international conference presentations. Candidates are encouraged to submit a cover letter explaining how their background and existing skills would tie in to these projects and explaining what new skills they would like to learn while they are in our department.
